Town of Truckee <br /> <br /> California <br /> <br /> RESOLUTION NO. 98-16 <br /> <br /> A RESOLUTION OF THE TRUCKEE TOWN COUNCIL <br /> SUPPORTING MEASURE B <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the voters of the Town of Truckee will vote on Measure B at the June 1998 <br />election; and <br /> <br /> WFIEREAS, Measure B is of great significance to the future of the Town of Truckee and its <br />citizens; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, in the course of fully informing themselves concerning Measure B, the voters <br />should be aware of the position(s) of their locally elected officials; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, on May 7, 1998 the Town Council conducted a public forum on Measure B and <br />heard the views of Town citizens both in favor of and opposed to Measure B; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, after deliberation and discussion the Town Council has decided to take a <br />position with regard to Measure B; <br /> <br /> NOW THEREFORE, TIlE TOWN COUNCIL OF TIlE TOWN OF TRUCKEE finds <br /> <br />that: <br /> <br />1. A Blue Ribbon Library Council representing a broad cross section of the entire <br />Nevada County community has recommended passage of this 1/8t~ cent Sales Tax measure, <br />the funds from which shall be used for library services only in Nevada County. <br /> <br />2. Through surveys, the Blue Ribbon Library Council determined that the most practical <br />and acceptable source of library funding is a sales tax. <br /> <br />3. Our greater community is strengthened when all citizens have oppommity and equal <br />access to information and enrichment. <br /> <br />In recognition of the foregoing findings, the Town Council hereby expresses its support for <br />the passage of Measure B and encourages the voters of Truckee to inform themselves fully <br />before casting their ballot. <br /> <br /> <br />
