TOWN OF TRUCKEE <br /> California <br /> <br /> RESOLUTION NO. 2003-19 <br /> <br /> A RESOLUTION OF THE TOWN COUNCIL OF THE TOWN OF TRUCKEE <br /> ADOPTING THE TRUCKEE HISTORIC DESIGN GUIDELINES <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, as part of the Historic Preservation Program, the Town Council <br />initiated a major rewrite and update of the Downtown historic design guidelines; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the Council hired Winter & Company, a consulting firm specially <br />qualified in historic preservation and historic design, to prepare historic design <br />guidelines that address the special characteristics and needs of the Truckee Downtown <br />area; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the historic design guidelines were prepared pursuant to previous <br />direction provided by the Council, the policies of the Historic Resources Element of the <br />Downtown Truckee Specific PLan, and the criteria and guidelines set forth in the <br />Secretary of the Interior's Standards for the Treatment of Historic Properties; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, on several occasions the Town Council notified the community and <br />each downtown property owner of the preparation of the historic design guidelines and <br />provided the opportunity for the public and downtown property owners to participate in <br />the preparation of the guidelines; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, a steering committee appointed by the Council and consisting of the <br />Historic Preservation Advisory Commission and representatives from the Council, <br />Planning Commission, and Downtown Merchants Association, assisted the consultant <br />and Community Development Department in the preparation of the historic design <br />guidelines; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the Commission held a public hearing on the proposed Historic <br />Design Guidelines on May 14, 2003, duly considered comments received at the <br />hearing, and adopted Resolution No. 2003-09 recommending adoption of the Historic <br />Design Guidelines; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the Council held a public hearing on the proposed Historic Design <br />Guidelines on June 19, 2003 and duly considered comments received at the hearing; <br />and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the Town Council certified a Final Environmental Impact Report on <br />the Historic Preservation Program including the adoption of the Historic Design <br />Guidelines, and the Council considered the information contained in the Final EIR and <br /> <br /> <br />
