Town of Truckee <br />TOWN COUNCIL SPECIAL MEETING MINUTES <br /> <br /> May 22, 1997, 5:00 P.M. <br />Truckee Donner Public Utility District Board Room <br />11570 Donner Pass Road, Truckee, CA <br /> <br />The Town Council met in Closed Session from 5:00 p.m. to 5:55 p.m. with Councilmembers Carpenter, <br />Florian, McCormack, Susman, and Mayor Drake present to discuss: litigation against Nevada County <br />pursuant to Government Code Section 54956.9 and labor negotiations between the Labor Negotiator <br />(Town Manager) and the Town of Truckee Employees Association pursuant to Government Code <br />Section 54957.6. Litigation against Nevada County was not discussed and there were no reportahle actions <br />taken regarding labor negotiations. <br /> <br />1. CALL TO ORDER - Mayor Drake called the meeting to order at 600 p.m. <br /> <br />2. ROLL CALL <br /> PRESENT: <br /> <br />Council Members Carpenter, Florian, McCormack, Susman, and Mayor <br />Drake <br /> <br />ALSO PRESENT: <br /> <br />Tony Lashbrook, Director of Community Development; Dennis Crabb, <br />Town Attorney; and Vicki Soderquist, Deputy Town Clerk <br /> <br />3. PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE was led by George Robertson. <br /> <br />4. PUBLIC COMMENT - None <br /> <br />PRESENTATIONS <br />5.1 Presentation of New Employees. Captain Jack Bayer introduced two new deputies - John <br />Shaw and Steven Trip. He also introduced Sgt. Ken Duncan who will be replacing Captain Bayer. <br />Bill Miller, Chief Building Inspector, introduced Liz Matchie the new Public Service Technician and <br />Dan Olsen, Animal Control Supervisor, introduced Bob Sylvia the new Animal Control Officer. <br /> <br />5.2 Proclamation declaring June 1, 1997 as Stand for Children Day in the Town of <br />Truckee. The proclamation was presented by Mayor Drake to Nancy Bouffiou on behalf of the <br />Tahoe Truckee Child Abuse Prevention Committee. Ms. Bouffiou invited the Council and public <br />to attend the 1st Annual Picnic in the Park on June 1st from noon to 3:00 p,m. in the Regional Park. <br /> <br />5.3 Presentation on Animal Control and Abandoned Vehicle Administration. Dan Olsen, <br />Animal Control Supervisor, reviewed the vehicle abatement and animal control statistics for <br />1996/97. <br /> <br />Councilmember Carpenter questioned ifa detailed report would also be submitted to Sierra County, <br />Loyalton, and Portola. Mr. OIsen replied that they would all receive an individual yearly report. <br /> <br />Mayor Drake commended Mr. Olsen for his efforts and noted that Channel 6 and various animal <br />groups did a good job in helping with the adoption of animais which resulted in a much lower than <br />normal euthanasia rate. <br /> <br /> <br />
