Town of Truckee <br /> TOWN COUNCIL <br />REGULAR MEETING MINUTES <br /> <br /> February 19, 1998, 6:00 P.M. <br />Truckee Donner Public Utility District Board Room <br />11570 Dormer Pass Road, Truckee, CA <br /> <br />CALL TO ORDER - Mayor Florian called the meeting to order at 6:00 p.m. <br /> <br />ROLL CALL <br />PRESENT: <br /> <br />Councilmembers Drake, McCormack, Susman, and Mayor Florian <br /> <br />ABSENT: <br /> <br />Councilmember Schneider <br /> <br />ALSO PRESENT: <br /> <br />Tony Lashbrook, Community Development Director; J. Dennis Crabb, <br />Town Attorney; and Jim Smith, Staff Assistant <br /> <br />PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE was led by Vicki Soderquist. <br /> <br />PUBLIC COMMENT. <br />4.1 Steve Gross, Truckee, complimented the Town and Shady Snow Removal for improved <br />snow removal service in the Prosser Heights area. Mr. Gross also thanked Tony Lashbrook for <br />presenting a training seminar for the. new Planning Commission for Portola. <br /> <br />PRESENTATIONS <br />5.1 Introduction of New Employees. This item was postponed and continued to March 5th. <br /> <br />5.2 Proclamation declaring February 28 - March 2, 1998 as the Sierra Regional Ski for <br />Light Weekend. Mayor Florian read the proclamation in view of Ms. Herrington's absence. <br />Councilmember McCormack moved to approve the Proclamation, and Councilmember Susman <br />seconded; motion passed 4-0-1. <br /> <br />5.3 Presentation by Southwest Gas Corporation. The presentation was made by James Kane, <br />Senior Vice President Operations and Roger Montgomery, Rate Department, Southwest Gas <br />Corporation. <br /> <br />James Kane provided an update of the California PUC application review, and progress of gas <br />installations during I997 and plans for 1998. <br /> <br />Roger Montgomery, Southwest Gas Rate Department, presented the terms of the proposed rate <br />settlement with the Office of Ratepayers Advocates (ORA) of the CA PUC. He explained the <br />regulatory process before the ORA and CPUC. <br /> <br />Southwest Gas will write off $8 million of cost overruns during Phase II and defer recovery <br />of an additional $5 million interest free; Phase III, as modified, will be completed in 1998- <br />99 with cost cap of $11 million total and $3,800 per customer; Service will be offered to all <br />potential customers not presently served or identified to be served in Phases I, II, III <br />pursuant to Southwest's currently effective Main & Service Extension Rules at the same <br />rates and facilities surcharges available to other Truckee customers; Rates other than gas <br />costs are frozen at least to the year 2000 and the facilities sumharge was raised to. 18 cents <br /> <br /> <br />
