Town of Truckee <br /> <br /> California <br /> <br /> ORDINANCE NO. 93-33 <br /> <br />AN ORDINANCE OF THE TOWN OF TRUCKEE DIRECTING THAT GENERAL <br />MUNICIPAL ELECTIONS OF THE TOWN OF TRUCKEE BE HELD ON THE DAY <br />OF STATEWIDE GENERAL ELECTIONS <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, on March 23, 1993, the Town of Truckee formally incorporated as a general <br />law city in the State of California. Pursuant to the provisions of California Government Code <br />Section 36503, the general municipal election for the Town of Truckee would be held on the second <br />Tuesday in April in each even-numbered year; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, California Government Code Section 36503.5 provides that a Town Council <br />may enact an Ordinance requiring its general municipal election to be held on alternate election <br />dates, as specified in said Ordinance; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the Town Council desires to cause the municipal elections for the Town of <br />Truckee to be held on the day of statewide general elections in order to conserve Town resources; <br />and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, all legal prerequisites to the adoption of this Ordinance have occurred. <br /> <br />NOW, THEREFORE, the Town Council of the Town of Truckee does ordain as follows: <br /> <br /> Section 1. This Council hereby directs that general municipal elections of the Town of <br />Truckee shall be held on the day of the statewide direct general election, the first Tuesday after the <br />first Monday of November in each even-numbered year. <br /> <br /> Section 2. Those elected officers of the Town of Truckee whose te~ll~s of office would <br />have, prior to the adoption of this ordinance, expired following the April, 1994 general municipal ' <br />election, shall, instead, continue in their respective offices until no later than the second Thursday <br />after the day of the 1994 statewide direct general election, which shall be the general municipal <br />election of the Town of Truckee as provided in Section I. <br /> <br /> Section 3. Those elected officers of the Town of Truckee whose terms of office would <br />have, prior to the adoption of this Ordinance, expired following the April, 1996, general municipal, <br />election, shall instead, continue in their respective offices no later than the second Thursday after the <br />day of the 1996 statewide direct general election, which shall be the general municipal election of <br />the Town of Truckee, as provided in Section 1. <br /> <br /> <br />
