The property in <br />this proposal is arleady heavily used and as a result causes severe traffic congestion and safety <br />concerns for adjacent residents, lake users and state parks visitors. Donner Lake has limited <br />capaclity for future development due to its small size and historic popularity. Addition facilities <br />in this fragile environment will only further degrade the natural setting and negatively impact <br />the lake ecosystem/environment. While residents of Tahoe Donner have the option of leaving <br />the area to return to their homes when this congestion/development is problematic, those of us <br />who actually reside in the lake area cannot. While I sympathize with Tahoe Donner's desire to <br />have additional facilities, and reconize the benefits they have offered the Truckee community . I <br />dont believe supporting this porposal should be the counity obligation to reward Tahoe Donner's <br />past good deeds. I seriously doubt these improvements, for the exclusive use of the Tahoe <br />Donner membership will be in the best interests of the Truckee community as a whole. <br />I urge the town council to be cautious in granting approval/permission for the proposed changes <br />expansions as they will clearly impact local Truckee residents and state park visitors in adverse <br />ways. <br /> <br />Some of my concerns include- <br /> <br /> The need to enforce existing Town of Truckee zoning and development code rules that: <br /> Prohibit disturbance of 30% slopes; <br /> Prohibit logging native trees; <br /> Prohibit expanded events in privately zoned residential and recreation areas; <br /> Require conformance with permit conditions that limit the marina uses to boat launching, <br />swimming and lake recreation. <br />An expanded party center is not appropriate for a lake the size of Donner. <br />Amplified music, weddings, large dining events will impact surrounding neighbors, the lake, and <br />the community. <br />Constricting all boat launching and people to a 17 foot wide access route is unsafe <br />Traffic congestion will increase on Donner Pass Road.
