Town of Truckee <br />SPECIAL COUNCIL MEETING <br />February 6, 1996 6:00 P.M. <br /> Truckee Sanitary District Board Room <br /> 12304 Joerger Drive, Truckee, CA <br /> <br />MINUTES <br /> <br />CALL TO ORDER. Mayor McCormack called the meeting to order at 6:05 P.M. <br /> <br />ROLL CALL. Town Manager Wright called the roll with Council Members Cross, Drake, <br />Eagan, and Mayor McCormack being present. Town Manager Wright noted that <br />Councilmember Carpenter was excused. Also present were Town Manager Stephen L. <br />Wright, Town Engineer Jon Lander, and Public Works Director Tom Covey. <br /> <br />PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE was led by Eric Sutton. <br /> <br />PUBLIC COMMENT. None <br /> <br />ROAD ISSUES WORKSHOP <br /> <br />5.1 Public Hearing to received public input regarding Town of Truckee Road Issues <br /> <br />Mayor McCormack opened the meeting noting the Council's desire to receive public <br />suggestions on how the Town should approach the needed road restoration and maintenance <br />problems. At the request of the Mayor Town Manager Wright gave a brief overview of <br />Town efforts to date leading up to this Workshop. The following suggestions and comments <br />were received: <br /> <br />BILL BOAZ -- suggested five cent gas tax as in Reno; make sure we design correctly. <br /> <br />CONRAD WILLIAMS -- add a Town ½ cent sales tax onto the County's proposed ½ cent <br />sales tax <br /> <br />KAREN SESSLER. -- raise all parcel charges equally, i.e. increase TSSA charges also. <br />KAREN SESSLER -- raise parcel charges incrementally to avoid a large hit all at once. <br /> <br />STEVE FRISCH -- create a parcel charge for arterials and collectors only and use assessment <br />district rather than a vote. <br /> <br />STEVE FRISCH -- move quickly to solve these problems before the main roads get worse. <br /> <br />DAN WENDIN -- use assessment districts for major streets and use TSSAs for local roads. <br />In areas that vote down increases, allow streets to deteriorate. <br /> <br /> <br />
