Town of Truckee <br />TOWN COUNCIL REGULAR MEETING MINUTES <br /> <br /> September 19, 1996, 6:00 P.M. <br />Truckee Donner Public Utility District Board Room <br />11570 Donner Pass Road, Truckee, CA <br /> <br />1. CALL TO ORDER Mayor McCormack called the meeting to order at 6:03 p.m. <br /> <br />2. ROLL CALL <br /> PRESENT: <br /> <br />Council Members Carpenter, Cross, Drake, Eagan, and Mayor McCormack <br /> <br />ALSO PRESENT: <br /> <br />Stephen L. Wright, Town Manager; Dennis Crabb, Town Attorney; and <br />Vicki Soderquist, Deputy Town Clerk <br /> <br />3. PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE ~ The Pledge of Allegiance was led by Sarah Green. <br /> <br />PUBLIC COMMENT <br />Don Huber stated he was concerned that there would be no handicapped transportation for the <br />Wheelchair Tennis Tournament. They had been quoted $13,000/day and couid not afford it when <br />the service had been free in the past. <br /> <br />Mr. Wright informed the Council that the item had arisen after the posting of the agenda and the <br />event would be held prior to the next regularly scheduled meeting. Therefore, it would require a <br />determination of urgency by the Council to place it on the agenda. <br /> <br />Motion by Councilmember Drake, Seconded by Councilmember Carpenter, approved <br />unanimously, to find that the item arose after the posting of the agenda, declare that an <br />urgency existed, and place the item on the agenda as Item 8.3. <br /> <br />PRESENTATIONS <br />5.1 Truckee River Restoration Project - Sarah Trebilcock. Councilmember Eagan stated she <br /> had been involved in Truckee River Operating Agreement negotiations and part of that <br /> dealt with minimum stream flows in order to assure that there would be a viable fish <br /> habitat. A symposium had been held in Truckee on 9/13/96 regarding the river issues. <br /> <br />Ms. Trebilcock gave a slide presentation of the present Truckee area restoration and erosion <br />control projects. Alice Berg, Fisheries Biologist, US Forest Service, stated the USFS, CA <br />Dept. offish & Game, Tahoe Truckee Fly Fishers, and Americor had instituted a Trout in <br />the Classroom program for Truckee Schools and part of that program was to involved <br />students in restoration projects within their communities. Truckee River Day would be on <br />10/13/96, from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. Councilmember Eagan requested that the Council <br />encourage and support the volunteer efforts. <br /> <br />6. CONSENT CALENDAR (One simple motion approves all of the following actions.) <br /> <br />Motion by Councilmember Drake, Seconded by Councilmember Eagan, and passed unanimously <br />to approve the Consent Calendar with Item 6.5 pulled. <br /> <br /> <br />
