Project No. 60462.13
January 18, 2018
Hilary Hobbs
Town of Truckee
10183 Truckee Airport Road
Truckee, California 96161
Reference:Former Nevada County Corporation Yard
10257 West River Street
Truckee, California
Subject:Geotechnical Engineering Report
Dear Ms. Hobbs:
This report presents the results of our geotechnical engineering investigation for the
proposed developmentof the former Nevada County Corporation Yard located at 10257
West River Street in Truckee, California. We previously prepared a geotechnical
engineering report for a proposed pedestrian bridge at the site, dated November 29,
2007. Project plans were conceptualat the time this report was prepared. We
understand theproposed project will involve construction of two approximately 5,000
square-foot commercial buildings, public restrooms, and a riversideparkat the site.
Appurtenant construction will likely include an asphalt concrete paved drivewayand
parking lot, hard surface patios, and underground utilities.
During our subsurface investigation,we encountered refusal on cobbles and bouldersat
depths ranging from approximately 8 to 19feet below the existing ground surface.
Depending on final site grades, rainfall, and/or irrigation practices, perched groundwater
will likely seasonally develop above onsite near-surface very dense soiland could
cause adverse effects to the proposed structures. We have provided recommendations
to reduce the potential adverse effects of perched groundwater in the following report.
Based on our subsurface explorationand previous experience at the site, it appears that
8to 19feet of undocumentedfill underlies the site.Due to the potential for excessive
settlement, existing fill will not be suitable for support of structures. We have provided
recommendations in the following report for removing and replacingexisting fill with
compacted structural fillin structural areas. We understand that removal of existing fillat
the site is already planned to create a more natural slope across the site toward the
Truckee River.
|||
10775PTT,CA96161.NV5.530.587.5156|530.587.5196
IONEER RAIL RUCKEE WWWCOMOFFICE FAX
CQA-I-E-PM-E
ONSTRUCTION UALITY SSURANCE NFRASTRUCTURE NERGY ROGRAM ANAGEMENT NVIRONMENTAL
