CALL TO ORDER – Vice Mayor Barr called the meeting to order at 1:01 p.m. <br /> <br />2. ROLL CALL: Subcommittee Members; Vice Mayor Barr, and Council Member deRyk Jones. <br /> <br />Staff Present: Assistant Town Manager Terrazas, Town Manager Lashbrook, and Administrative Secretary <br />Thompson. <br /> <br />3. PUBLIC COMMENT – none. <br /> <br />4. Minutes of March 26, 2014 <br />Recommended Action: Approve minutes. <br /> <br />The group consensus was to approve the minutes. <br /> <br />5. WORKSHOP ITEMS <br /> <br />5.1 Presentation by Truckee Donner Chamber of Commerce <br /> <br /> Lynn Saunders of the Truckee Donner Chamber of Commerce presented from the PowerPoint and answered <br />questions. Presentation on file with the Town Clerk. <br /> <br />Vice Mayor Barr called a recess at 2:47 p.m. <br />The meeting resumed at 2:53 p.m. <br /> <br />5.2 Presentation by Truckee Downtown Merchants Association <br /> <br /> Alyssa Thomas of the Truckee Downtown Merchants Association presented from the PowerPoint and answered <br />questions. Presentation on file with the Town Clerk. <br /> <br />5.3 Discussion of Terms of One Year Contract <br /> Recommended Action: Discuss and provide direction to staff. <br /> <br />The group discussed: <br />• Public money needs to be spent responsibly <br />• The Town wants to reward success over time <br />• How to quantify success? <br />• Transient Occupancy Tax (TOT) <br />o Under the current contract the Chamber receives 22% of the growth in TOT revenues during <br />each fiscal year <br />o Having to set a new benchmark for TOT every year is a challenge especially in years with <br />little snow <br />o Incentives could be linked to a percentage of TOT rather than the growth in TOT
