Town of Truckee <br /> Safety Committee <br />September 16, 2003 <br />Administrative Conference Room <br /> <br />Minutes <br /> <br />The meeting was called to order at 9:05 a.m. <br /> <br />Committee members present - Charlie Coxson, Dan Olsen (representing Animal <br />Control), Jim Sheehan, Dave Corollo, Russ Salyer, Alex Terrazas <br /> <br />1. Minutes Review - Meeting minutes from the August 12, 2003 meeting were <br /> provided to committee members. <br /> <br />Old Business <br /> a. History of Employee Injuries <br /> Alex indicated that as part of the ongoing work of the committee the <br /> committee may wish to periodically review employee injury reports. Dave <br /> suggested that the committee review the reports monthly. Alex indicated <br /> that he would provide copies of the injury reports to committee members <br /> and the committee would review the reports at the next meeting. <br /> <br />b. Police Department Daily Briefings and Safety- Bob was not in attendance <br /> so this item will be discussed at the next meeting. <br /> <br />c. Defensive Driver Training - Dan Olsen indicated that he would look into <br /> the winter driver training provided by the CHP. <br /> <br />d. First Aid Training - Alex reported that Janet is coordinating the <br /> scheduling of first aid recertification training for Town staff. <br /> <br />Safety Incentive Program - The Committee discussed the possibility of a <br />safety incentive program. Committee member comments included the <br />following: <br /> <br />· Care should be taken in putting the program together because if a <br /> program is too lucrative, as far as rewards, people will not report <br /> injuries. <br />· The program should recognize employees for doing things right. We <br /> should be catching people doing the right thing. <br />· The incentive award could be presented at the all employee quarterly <br /> meetings and the program could be run similar to the incentive award <br /> program. <br />· Recognition could be provided for not having a lost time accident. <br />· The program could be a "Safe Employee of the Quarter." <br />· The program should recognize overall safety performance of <br /> employees. <br />· The Safety Committee could identify potential award recipients based <br /> on recommendations from other employees or Safety Committee <br /> members. <br /> <br /> <br />
